THE FESTIVAL OF ''CANDELARIA'' (1st of February)


In the evening of this day they make a huge bonfire in the town and villages,
many of which can be seen from the different viewpoints of the villa.

SAN BLAS (FEBRUARY 3)


People go to the Parish Church doors with 
typical decorated baskets filled with rosemary 
and bread-rolls.

HOLY WEEK


With the arrival of the first full moon of spring, there also arrive the Holy 
Week. Its very peculiar colorful processions, accompanied 
by those characters ancient times, Iznajar people represent and interpret 
the roles of the Jews, Pilate, the maladrones, the Apostles, the Romans... 
A staging that has been preserved through the passing years.

The Holy Week is a date that is lived with much fervour in Iznajar.
Throughout the week there are processions, from Palm Sunday to 
Resurrection Sunday. 
But the most prominent days are Good Friday, 
in which the protagonists 
are the "Maladrones" at day, and at night the star is the 
"Virgen de los Dolores"; and 
on Saturday, "El Paso" or staging of the Passion of Jesus.

“SAN ISIDRO AND SAN MARCOS”


They are celebrated on May 15 and April 25 respectively.

In April, 25 families and groups of friends gather in the place of Valdearenas to organize a great lunch entertained with songs and popular games. Children carry a basket with snacks, including "la pavita", made with bread dough and a boiled eggs inside.

“FERIA GRANDE”


The biggest festival celebrated in Iznajar is from 8 to 11 September, in which we celebrate the day of our patron saint. These days, many faithful and most of the people come out to enjoy the festivities of the patron, and the procession is on September 8.

“FERIA CHICA”


In this fair the kids can enjoy the fairground attraction, the Iznajeños 
known as "cacharritos".

“EL CHASCARRÁ”


It is the traditional dance of Iznájar, it is part of the popular folklore of the region. It is danced in pairs and it dates back to the meetings of young men and women helping at the end of the day of the olive harvest.
